~ Wiring With Relays ~
Why use relays?
Relays should be used when you add any high current device (extra lights, horns, amps, etc.) to your car. A relay is a device that, through a magnetic induction coil, turns on the power for you. The switch that is installed in your dash (or wherever) actually only powers the relay itself which draws very little current.
- 86 is the relay switching (control) circuit input. (attatched to output of switch)
- 85 is the relay switching (control) circuit output. (attatched to ground)
- 30 is the power circuit input. (attatched to +12 V)
- 87 is the power circuit output. (attatched to input of high current device)
- 87a (if applicable) is not used.
